The Master's programme in Museum Studies will prepare you for an academic position in the wider field of museum professions: as a staff member in the curatorial- or in the educational department of a museum, or as an independent exhibition organiser.

Knowledge, creativity and critical thinking

Whether you would like to organise exhibitions, devise educational projects, create policy, conduct scholarly research or write journalistic reviews: it all starts with a solid basis of knowledge, creative thinking and a critical attitude. Alumni of the programme in Museum Studies are currently working as exhibition organisers, curators, educational employees, policy officers, project managers, academic researchers and directors.

Students are also encouraged to publish scholarly work and apply for a PhD position. As an alumnus, you will not only possess solid theoretical knowledge but will also have gained professional experience.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
