Born in London, Evans worked for prominent heritage and cultural institutions in the UK as a creative producer and writer in the fields of social history and political contexts of art, aesthetics and trauma and has collaborated closely with artists to produce works across multiple disciplines and spaces. At AHM, Evans will work on a PhD project entitled Imaginative Visions of Traumatic Heritage in the Postmemory Generation of Argentina, under the supervision of Prof. Ihab Saloul and Prof. Jan Willem van Henten. Situated in post-memory studies, Evans project investigates time-bound cultural products— from performance and theatre, oral history archives, film and television, to ephemeral sculpture and installation — that recollect, replicate and remediate traumatic narratives, identities and collective memories of Argentina’s civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983).

The project examines how cultural producers construct and modify the experiences of time for their spectators/audiences as well as the imaginative and generative potential of post memory and a structure of transmission. Tracing ideas across diverse cultural forms of heritage and memory practices, from a rarified work of art to a popular television series, the project seeks to uncover spaces of resistance wherein dominant forces of neutralization and forgetting can be undermined.
