Results
Down to the Ground team members publish articles in academic journals and give presentations at conferences. In addition to that we address a wider audience in blogs and smaller presentations, both on the web and in the museums, organised in close collaboration with our museum partners. The database developed by Down to the Ground will be made available for future research at the conclusion of the project.
The research will conclude with a much-needed volume that provides insight into the complex mix of cultural and technological factors that allowed coloured grounds to develop, disclosing their influence on the character, methods and visual appearance of Netherlandish Golden Age paintings.
