In this programme, an 18 ECTS internship at one of the heritage and museum organisations in Bologna will be combined with courses at the University of Bologna. In some exceptional cases, students may choose to follow courses only, in which case they will have to request special permission from the exchange coordinator and examinations board. While abroad, UvA students are still expected to do the assignments set as part of the internship seminars in their own respective Master's programmes, next to writing an extended internship report to meet the requirements of an 18 ECTS internship.

In the first semester, students from the University of Bologna may register for courses within the Master's programme Heritage and Memory Studies, Master's programme  Museum Studies, and the Research Master Heritage, Memory and Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam.

The UvA-Bologna Erasmus programme also includes PhD and staff exchanges.

This international exchange is part of an UNIBO-UvA Inter-institutional agreement supported by the Erasmus Plus programme.

Possible internship sites in Bologna

Once selected for the programme, students are advised to contact these sites directly as early as possible and before leaving Amsterdam in order to secure their internship in time. Interships are usually possible from March through June or July.
