VENI Grant | Project Leader: Dr. Tessel Bauduin | 2015-2018. Throughout the previous century, the Middle Ages were repeatedly rediscovered, also by surrealists such as Dalí.
This VENI project studies how and why the surrealists valued mediaeval art such as that of Hieronymus Bosch, and used it to present themselves as being new and modern.
