The University of Amsterdam and the Dutch-Flemish chapter of Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology (CAA) organize the 50-year anniversary edition of CAA's annual international scientific conference in Amsterdam.

CAA is an international organisation bringing together archaeologists, mathematicians and computer scientists. Its aims are to encourage communication between these disciplines, to provide a survey of present work in the field and to stimulate discussion and future progress.

500 attendees from all over the world are expected to participate in this year's CAA conference. The conference attracts experts in a range of subjects that intersect with digital archaeology (i.e., Photogrammetry, 3D recording and visualization, Virtual Museums, Database Design, Data Semantics, GIS, Geophysics, and Artificial Intelligence and Modelling). Attendees are employed in a variety of careers including higher education, cultural resource management, governmental positions (especially in Europe) and museums. Over 250 papers and posters have been submitted to the 2023 CAA conference and are part of 44 different sessions.

The conference venue will be the RAI Congress Centre in Amsterdam.
