What can be applied for?

The Fund is used to temporarily release employees from teaching tasks to enable them to:
a. prepare applications for personal grants
b. strengthen their publication list, to have a better chance of receiving funding when applying for personal grants in the near future.

For advice about eligibility and strategic planning, candidates are recommended to contact the Grant Team (subsidie-fgw@uva.nl).

The release from teaching duties is 0.2 FTE for 6 months or 0.1 FTE for 12 months, and will take effect from the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year onwards (i.e. 1 February 2022). Applications can be prepared for following grants instruments (please see also the factsheet below):

  • ERC Starting Grant, ERC Consolidator Grant, ERC Advanced*
  • NWO Vidi, NWO Vici**

* With the transition to Horizon Europe, the regular timeline of the ERC deadlines will change. The European Commission has not yet released official information about future ERC deadlines. Please contact the Grant Team to draw up a work plan.
** The Vidi deadline usually falls in October, the Vici deadline for pre-proposal in March. These deadlines are tentative.
