Grant for Early Career Researchers in Jewish Studies

Are you an early career researcher at the University of Amsterdam working within one of the many disciplines in the field of Jewish Studies? Are you in the early stages of your research, or nearing the completion of your project? Are you planning a short period of time to focus on writing without being interrupted? Through the Prof. V. Halberstadt Fund, the Amsterdam University Fund (AUF) is offering a grant of €2,500 for one individual.

Who can apply?

Early career researchers in Jewish Studies with limited financial means, affiliated with the University of Amsterdam as external PhD candidates or formerly employed by the UvA as PhD candidates or postdoctoral researchers. The grant is intended to allow them to fully concentrate on writing, for example during the final phase of their research.

What should your application include?

  • A summary of your research (max. 500 words), including your main research questions, a provisional chapter outline, and the most important preliminary conclusions
  • A short motivation for applying for the grant, and a concrete plan outlining how the grant will support the progress of your research (max. one page)
  • Your CV (max. two pages)
  • Contact details of your supervisors/former advisors and potential referees
